Introduction to APA Style
Abstract
This activity is designed to be done by high school students or college students who have not previously encountered American Psychological Association (APA) Style. The activity guides students through the components of a reference and asks them to evaluate the importance of each piece of identifying information. Then, students learn the general format of both tables and figures, as well as the general format of the entire paper. Finally, the Extension Questions begin to address reducing bias language in scientific writing. This activity is designed to be completed in one 45-minute class period, although students may not have time to reach the Extension Questions.
