Static and Dynamic Headspace Analysis including Purge & Trap (P&T)
Abstract
Sampling Techniques in Gas Chromatography
Abstract
“Sampling Techniques in Gas Chromatography” is a POGIL learning-cycle activity designed for introductory analytical chemistry courses such as quantitative analysis or instrumental analysis. This activity introduces students to static and dynamic headspace analysis including the purge and trap technique. Useful prior knowledge includes vapor pressure, boiling point, and a rudimentary understanding of gas chromatography. After completing the activity, students will be able to explain and compare and contrast these methods.
Level: lower to mid-level college
