Neural Development
Abstract
This activity was developed for undergraduate psychology students in an introductory neuroscience course called Introduction to Brain and Behavior.
At the time of the activity, students have learned about mammalian cell components, neurons (structure and function), as well as neural communication. The class size is 40 students. Activity A is the POGIL lesson following the learning circle and is completed on Monday and Wednesday (course length 50 minutes each day). It serves to develop content knowledge through a learning cycle structure. Activity B is the application activity completed on Friday of the same week (50 minutes in length). It serves to deepen or refine understanding through application of relevant process skills.
