Abstract

This application activity is intended for the first day, to help introduce students to POGIL collaboration on day one. Model 1 helps students set expectations for themselves, their classmates, and instructor. Model 2 is a guided exploration of the syllabus that encourages team development through role specific prompts. An optional recorder sheet is included which is turned in at the end of class so the instructor can further review key responses. The facilitation guide provides suggestions for how to use the sheet to promote responses. Syllabus specific prompts can be modified to meet the needs of the syllabus of any course.
